Maria is currently a research officer within Care Policy and Evaluation Centre (CPEC) at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). She is also teaching Health and Social Care Policy at the Department of Social Policy-LSE.
She is also an invited expert at European Commission’s High-Level Group on the future of social protection and of the welfare state in the European Union (EU). She also served as a consultant at the World Bank.
Her research focuses on ageing; economics of ageing; financing of long-term care systems for older people; social care; community based services for older people; and social policy.
She was previously a visiting academic at the University of Oxford (Oxford Institute of Population Ageing) and also worked as an advisor for Alzheimer’s Disease International (ADI) and as a researcher at King’s College London (Global Observatory for Ageing and Dementia Care).
