Biography
Celeste Drake was appointed as the ILO Deputy Director-General in August 2023. A seasoned policy advisor, she brings extensive experience in labour, trade, and economic policy.

She holds degrees in Political Science, Public Policy, and Law from UCLA and began her career as a high school teacher before moving into key advisory roles in the U.S. government. Most recently, Ms. Drake served as Deputy Director of the National Economic Council and labour advisor to President Biden. She also established and led the Made in America Office, supporting infrastructure and clean energy investments and helping connect small manufacturers with government business opportunities.

Ms. Drake has held prominent roles at the Directors' Guild of America and the AFL-CIO, working for trade, labor, intellectual property, and international economic policies to promote shared prosperity and inclusive growth. She also has experience on Capitol Hill, advising on labour, trade, health, and education policies.

Throughout her career, Ms. Drake has been dedicated to advancing workers' rights and fostering inclusive and just economies for all.
