Elva Bova is Head of the Unit Analysis and Statistics in European Commissions Directorate General for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion where she manages a team of researchers and statisticians to bring forward the analytical agenda of the DG. The unit produces a major DG EMPL’s flagship called ‘Employment and Social Developments in Europe’, aka ESDE review. Prior to taking this role, Elva was Deputy Head of Unit in the Directorate General for Economic and Financial Affairs, DG ECFIN, working on public finance and national fiscal frameworks. She joined the Commission in 2016. From 2010 to 2015, she was an Economist at the International Monetary in the Fiscal Affairs Department, contributing mainly to the Fiscal Monitor, and in the African Department, as country desk for commodity-producing economies. Prior to joining the Fund, she obtained her PhD from the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London. Elva has published in various peer-reviewed journals on public finance, inequality and labour market.
